About Me

Thanks for stopping by!

At the suggestion of a friend and co-worker, I applied for and accepted a work-study Pell grant during my undergraduate studies at the University of Louisville. After accepting my award, I was left with all the possibilities of where to apply on campus.  Another friend, who was working at the Ekstrom library, suggested any campus library because she loved her position so much. In a flash, I was hired at the Dwight Anderson Memorial Music Library and the rest is history! I'm so glad I tried new things and ventured out of my comfort zone into a career that is so perfect!

Since graduation from the University of Louisville, I worked with Backstage Library Works placing RFID tags in library materials for the Lake County Public Library system in Northwest Indiana. This opportunity led to another opportunity - a page position with the Munster branch of the Lake County Public Library system. Within three months of being a page, I transitioned into a clerk eager to learn as much as I could about the library, how our system worked, and anything else library related.

Each phase of my journey provides more insight and understanding as to how libraries work and better ways to serve patrons and communities. Though I have completed my MLIS and Youth Services certificate from the University of Southern Mississippi, I will continue to learn because I crave the knowledge of other library professionals.

When I'm not at the library or at library-related events you can find me renovating my midcentury modern Gunnison home back to its former glory, landscaping my yard, or exploring my city - visiting old favorites and discovering new places!
